A Priesthood Man

A woman spoke at church on Sunday and relayed a story I wanted to share:

A man getting ready for a church meeting is stopped by his little boy who asks "Dad, are you going to the church again?" How could he answer his son in a way that would incompass the magnitude of his church calling, that although his calling as Dad was very important, the Church needs strong men and women to help lead it. Before he could answer however, his older daughter spoke up and said. "Yes, he has to go to the church again, because he is a Priesthood Man."

A Priesthood Man to Me (Leah) is...

A Man who paces the floor at 4 in the morning with a his colic baby girl.

He kneels at his son(s) bed to give him a much needed blessing.

He puts that same son on a plane for 2 year mission to a forgein land, even if that forgein land is a reservation in Montana.

A Priesthood Man takes vacation time from work to go hike the Grand Canyon with the Young Men.

He pauses a Laker's game to say a prayer with his little boy.

He bears his testimony not just in Church so his children can hear it, but everyday in how he lives.

He embraces his children's spouses as his own family.

A Priesthood Man loves his grandchildren and is involved in their lives.

He changes poopy diapers.

He eats his vegetables so the kids will too.

He scrubs floors, he vaccums, he even will clean a toliet or two.

He takes care of the kids, so his wife can have a much needed Sunday nap.

He teaches you the REALLY important stuff, like the The Beatles are the greatest rock and roll band ever, and the Laker's Rule the court.

He kisses chubby cheeks and boo-boos.

He thinks he's the lucky one, but it's me for having known him.

He endures to the end.

A Priesthood Man is my father, Edward Wayne Swecker, my father in-law, Lyndon Vale Britt and my wonderful husband Michael Leon Britt.

Men I admire for their loyalty, love and devotion to not only their families, but their Priesthood callings as well.
