First Field Trip

Chandler Recycle Center - The Environmental education center was Hendrix's first field trip of preschool. I got a sitter for MilaBelle (thanks Mary!) and so it could be just him and me, which was perfect. I realized Hendrix never gets Mommy time, there's always a little person following us around. We played in the rocks with sticks...

Saw aweomse spiders and snakes...Made new friends to throw rocks in the water with...

And of course recycled! Did you know slinky's are made from soup cans. Also it takes over 1,000 milk jugs to make a park bench. Don't put plastic bags in your recycle can, it wraps around the machine and slows the system, instead reuse them to store wet or dirty clothes and diapers, then recycle them at the grocery store, they do it differently, Better yet, don't use them at all, get some reuseable canvas bags.
(That's my soap box today)

Hendrix had a great time though, he's gonna be an environmentalist like his daddy.

So what I'm still a Rockstar

Well, I'm not a rockstar, but my brother is, check out his band on youtube at these links: My bro's the lead singer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4e_ymDug8g&feature=related - Buffalo Shark, my favorite

Editing at the Britts, so I am always singing around the house, and Hendrix loves Rockstar by Pink. The first few lines if you haven't heard them go "I guess I just lost my husband, I don't know where he went. I'm gonna drink my money, I'm not gonna pay his rent." You really don't think you're kids are listening until the other day, I can't find my wallet.
Me: Hendrix, where's my money?
Hendrix: Maybe you drank it mommy.
Great, I hope he doesn't tell his teacher his mommy drinks her money.

Also, Hendrix said his first curse word. He made a mess in the kitchen (nothing unusually) and said "oh, crap", but not crap the other word, the "sh" word, the word I never use and have heard Mike use it once two months ago when he crashed into a snow bank in WA. Could Hendrix have remembered clear back from then. No, but he has been in preschool a while now, so he may be learning new things. I asked him where he heard that word.
Hendrix: I don't know, but when you drop something you say it.

Preschool and a Milk bath

Hendrix started Preschool. He loves it. He wears his backpack everyday and to bring home art projects in. Mondays are show and tell.
Fridays project

Funny Sock Day

It's nice to have a couple hours just MilaBelle and I to run to the grocery store, sit outside talking with other moms, or rushing home to clean the kitchen. Besides Hendrix was getting bored with me, and when he gets bored, he does things like this while mommy is using the restroom.

(MilaBelle giving powdered milk kisses)That's powdered milk, so we proceded to have a milk bath today. It's great for the skin right?

Vacation's Over

After two weeks of staying up late and sleeping in, we are back from our vacation in WA state and starting to get back into the groove. In an effort to save time, money and trees...

(Our Little Tree Hugger)

Mike and I opted to post our New Year wishes/year in review/vacay pictures on our blog. So, gear up for a long post, or do what I do and scan the pictures.

We rang in the year 2008 with good friends and "Pants off Dance off".

In January Leah and MilaBelle got to visit Texas and see our friends Rachelle, Dave and Drayton

On returning home I was released from Young Women's having served 5 yrs there and asked to serve as the Nursery coordinator. As much as I loved YW's I knew I was put in nursery to learn how to surrender to my own 2 year old. I have tried too often to control too much. Although I was quite controling when it came to nursery schedule and clean up, I allowed myself to enjoy the kids. I had amazing helpers, Elida and Pam. Thanks ladies, I couldn't have done it without you.

(RDMP Nursery kiddos)
After a long maternity leave I returned to work on the weekends at Mimi's Cafe. I get to stay home the rest of the week and it has been an adjustment for me. I started a playgroup through my ward, took regular trips to the children's museum and library, participated in babysitting trades and tried to make my days eventful. I'm truly finding joy in Motherhood. I am grateful I am able to stay home and am proud I made this decision.

Mike continued serving as Ward Clerk (going on 3 yrs now). He loves working close with the Bishop and getting to know ward members. He's become very organized through this calling and our family has been blessed because of it. He is still working for Environmental Technology and is ever encouraging as our family does our part to protect and preserve our planet.

Hendrix is asorbing everything. He knows his letters, upper and lower, #'s 1-12. In addition to knowing his outer body part names, he was inspired by meeting Bonezy at Uncle Jared's to learn his skeleton system as well. He can show you where his skull, spine, ribs, collarbone, tailbone, shoulder blades and phlanges are. He adores his baby sister and will tell everyone how great she is. He's come up with phrases like "Just kidding" "What the heck?" "That's cool" "That's lame" and "I said..."
The biggest event to occur for Hendrix this year, is... drum roll please "He Is Potty Trained" It was amazing. It only took a week and then another week before he was going completely on his own. Thank you to both my mothers, Lanae and the book PottyWise for all the help. I was terrified to potty train, and found out it's not that bad.
MilaBelle was blessed in Feb. Got teeth soon after, figured out smiling, sitting up, eating, crawling, cooeing and finally walking. She's brilliant. She's always happy, spoiled rotten and as sweet as can be.

Our family had a fun year: We learned a lot about one another, took some great family photos: (looking for an amazing photographer, http://nikaelacurtis.typepad.com/)
